User Experience Research

Usability testing of our current website is a part of our e-store redesign we are working on. We knew about a number of problematic moments our customers experience when shopping. One of them – an essential one – is renewing a contract.

It was usability testing which exposed problems that occurred when editing our website and that had existed for quite some time. Now we are able to improve our shopping routes in ways which lead to higher conversion rates.

We chose UX Focus who was recommended by our designer. From the outset, I was delighted by their proactivity in an effort to understand as much as possible the problem that is solved by our application Loop.gl.

On the basis of the information, they helped us develop a scenario for individual respondents and additional questions to identify insights into the overall business model. Based on our input, UX Focus recruted and arranged user research with 6 photographers. They individualy accessed the computer and went through the application based on a prepared scenario. In the course of testing, we could see via eye tracking what elements are the most prioritized, which texts the respondents most noticing and which, on the other hand, are skipping.

The whole research was then delivered to us in a clear presentation where the most important points and conclusions were pinpointed. Except of the important findings of shortcomings in the interaction with the landing page and the key pages within the application, we have identified the need for an additional paid tariff due to additional issues.

I recommend UX Focus to any company that is preparing to launch a new product/e-shop/site/application and wants to insure the success of its customers.

In Kooperativa insurance, we use a tool which helps advisors and clients with needs analysis of life insurance. Life insurance itself is rightfully considered very complex and is difficult to comprehend by a layman.

Yes, this technology is expensive, but it is able to answer many questions, which cannot be answered via Yandex Metrica, heatmaps or other systems. You can test any scenario (which you want) and apart of mouse movements, you observe eye movements, which shouldn’t be underestimated. It will warn you about areas, where something is not good enough or not logically written or placed, etc. Where eyes linger too long or where eyes do not even look at.

Moreover you can ask respondets to find the reasons of their behaviour. We for e.g. found out, that many customers not even arrive to a basket :) and now we know WHY. None systém will answer you on this question.

If you do your price benchmark, I would reommend to benchmark this method with classical research methods as focus groups than to compare it with online technologies.

Return on investment? UX Focus confirmed our hypothesis and also found weak areas, which we did not know about before. We have made changes based on recommendations from the user testing, after which our order conversion has raised more than double than UX Focus has estimated before cooperation. Director of client services also pleased by the fact, that they are getting less technical enquiries, which has lowered the excessive load of help-line.

It helped us absolutely in many decisions. In principle I was satisfied, because it was very quick and positive changes has showed up.

When designing our new website Aktualne.cz we came across several issues and eye tracking seemed to be the best way to address these issues.

We therefore approached Miroslav Suchý from UX Focus, who had earlier contacted us with an interesting offer.

After some initial meetings we were sure that we would go for user testing with eye tracking. What got us convinced was the fact that when we clearly defined what we needed to learn, we could let UX Focus worry about data interpretation. This is possible thanks to elaborate software they work with.

As owner of trytuscany.co.uk I wanted to make sure that the website was really working for me and that the visitor would respond to the call to action and the new holiday offer which was introduced this year.

UX Focus organised and managed a project with a small number of participants to demonstrate the benefits of eye tracking technology. We have employed UX Focus and their services to gather detailed information about our readers’ behaviour in connection with attractiveness of our advertising space and articles, and also regarding applicability of our new homepage iDNES.cz which was being developed at that time.

Thanks to the eye-tracking and modern methodology of the measurement process we found out which features our users see and which they don’t, and for how long they see them during a regular visit to our website. Shopper Research

We used the eye-tracking research to test the client's journey in a new digital concept of our branches.

The results have helped us to better understand the behaviour of clients in retail locations. This allows us to more effectively lay out navigational and advertising elements.

Training courses

We are in the process of testing an eye tracker which we intend to use for measuring pupils in patients after cataract surgery. Acquired data can help us with development of new intraocular lenses. The testing will take place in specific conditions which might lower the quality of acquired data.

That’s why we scheduled a training during which we had a chance to conduct testing of actual patients and simulate examination conditions.

Thanks to UX Focus, we managed to create perfect methodology for measurement, and to eliminate problems we had had in the initial phase of the testing. Our cooperation with UX Focus also helped us realize our time limitation and limitations of the examination.

In October 2016, Miroslav Suchý’s lecture on eye tracking with A Panel of Experts took place. It was organized by The Division of Information and Library Studies at the faculty of philosophy at Masaryk University in Brno.
